Speed Up The Speed Of Your Android's SD Cards

When you will go through many SD cards you will notice that the speed of different SD card is different. So some of them are wit high speed and few with low speed. Here's a way to enhance the speed of your SD cards.
Android users, this can be of great importance. If you’re constantly transferring files back and forth between your SD card and your computer, a faster card will help you do it, well, faster. It’s even more important for users, rooted and non-rooted alike, who store apps on their SD cards. A faster SD card will make those apps run smoother. If you are of the rooted class, you can actually boost your SD card’s speed with an app from the Market.
It might seem like snake oil, but the app really does work. What it does, as I learned in the accompanying xda thread, is allow your Android to read further ahead — that is, it can cache more data while the SD card process works. That might sound confusing, but liken it to peeking around the corner. Your SD card speed is linear, but you can use this app so that your device can look ahead and cache data, making the load a big quicker. Again, this is for rooted devices only, as the function requires superuser permissions. You can get SD-Booster for free from the Market.

Pay Through your Mobile Using Google's Wallet & Google'sOffer's Get Discount Also

Google unveiled its wireless payment system and its new Groupon-like deals site at a press event in New York on Thursday. Called Google Wallet and Google Offers, the two features can operate either separately or together to make it easier to pay for things in person and get deals while shopping.
"Our goal is to bring together all the pieces of the ecosystem. Your phone will be your wallet. Just tap, pay, and save," Google VP of commerce Stephanie Tilenius told the crowd. "We believe 2011 and beyond will be the age of MoLo—Mobile Local commerce."
Here's how the whole thing will work, starting with Google Offers. Just like Groupon, LivingSocial, and a plethora of other daily deal sites, a coupon for a local business will be sent to your inbox as an "offer of the day." It will also be able to send offers to people who check into certain businesses and make offers tied to certain places—Google said the service is "very contextually aware."
That's where Google Wallet comes in. Among other things, Google Wallet will be able to store your credit card information (Google's launch partners include MasterCard and Citi) as well as loyalty rewards, purchase points, and any saved-up Google Offers that might apply. Then, users who have Near Field Communications (NFC) enabled Android phones will be able to simply whip out their devices when shopping and tap them on electronic payment processors in order to get deals and pay for their goods.
Google said that more than 20,000 US merchants—including Macy's, Subway, American Eagle, Jamba Juice, CVS, and Walgreens—are already set up to work with Google Wallet, which functions with the PayPass systems that many merchants already have in their stores. Users don't even have to open up the Google Wallet app in order to pay, either; if they've already chosen which cards they want to use, they can simply tap the phone on the PayPass terminal.
But what about security? Google said that as long as the device's screen is off, NFC is disabled so that nearby skimmers can't steal any information. And NFC-capable Android phones—of which the Nexus S is the only one, for now—will store your credit card information on a secure chip that is both tamper- and laser-resistant. Even if you lose your phone, a thief wouldn't be able to extract the information on his own (though stopping that person from immediately buying thousands of Subway sandwiches with your phone could be a challenge).
The company said that the first markets it's targeting for Google Wallet are San Francisco and New York, with more on the way in the coming months. Google reps also said that more features are coming, such as digital receipts that transfer back to your Android device after you pay.
"We plan to aggressively enable everything a consumer would want to put in their wallet," Google VP of payments Osama Bedier said.
As we mentioned earlier, the Nexus S is currently the only Android phone available with NFC capabilities, but Sprint's Fared Adib said at the event that the carrier is working with Samsung, Motorola, and HTC to bring more NFC phones to the market. Google also indicated during a post-event Q&A that Google Wallet could even work with an NFC sticker on the back of a phone, and said that it's looking at bringing such stickers to market for those without NFC-capable phones.
Both Google Offers and Google Wallet have been rumored for some time now, so it was only a matter of time before the company made a public announcement. Apple is also expected to unveil a NFC-capable iPhone sometime in the future, but no one knows whether NFC will come as part of the next iPhone or the one after it.
Even if Apple does follow up with its own NFC offerings, it's clear that Google and its partners strongly believe in the future of Google Wallet. "There can be no doubt that today's announcement will be looked at as the inflection point where mobile payments move from concept to mass production," said Citi's Paul Galant.

Android Market's Most Popular Emulators Yong Zhang Disappear

If you're an Android gamer, chances are you've heard of Nesoid, Snesoid, Gensoid, N64oid, Ataroid, Gearoid and Gameboid: they're all video game console emulators developed by yongzh, and many ranked among the most popular paid apps on the Android Market. This week, they've got something else in common, too -- they've all been abruptly removed. Following a complaint from Sega, two emulators were nixed late last month, but we're hearing that Google has since revoked yongzh's developer privileges, just like PSX4Droid comrade-in-arms ZodTTD. We're currently reaching out to both yongzh and Google for comment, and hope to hear back soon, but it's looking like a bleak week for the emulation community.

Update: We got in touch with yongzh (or Yong Zhang, as he's known in real life) to discuss the matter, and he confirms that his developer account has been removed and his apps pulled without warning -- cutting off his primary source of income and leaving him with an inbox stuffed with worried email from customers. He has, however, already migrated a number of emulators to third-party app store SlideME, where they'll be free for a while, allowing existing customers to get updates without paying a second time, and likely helping a number of new individuals to mooch off his troubles. He's not too optimistic about his prospects at SlideME, though.

The Online Bank PayPal sues Google For Stolen Wallet Secret

Few days ago Google announced their Google's Wallet through which you can make your Android phone your wallet. And now the news is coming that PayPal had sued Google's for using their ideas of Wallet. Google Wallet is only just official, and already it has its first lawsuit. PayPal has sprung out of the gate with accusations that Google used trade secrets gleaned from ex-PayPal employees now working on the Google Wallet project. According to the eBay-owned payments firm, ex-exec Osama Bedier took with him “intimate knowledge of PayPal’s capabilities, strategies, plans, and market intelligence” which he disclosed to Google after being recruited by Stephanie Tilenius, previously SVP of North America and Global Products; part of Tilenius’ agreement with PayPal was not to recruit its employees over to their new Google taskmasters.

“We spend a lot of time and energy creating the things that make PayPal unique and a preferred way to pay for almost 100 million people around the world. We treat PayPal’s “secrets” seriously, and take it personally when someone else doesn’t. So we made a decision today. We filed a lawsuit against Google and two former colleagues who now work there, Osama Bedier and Stephanie Tilenius.”

However, not only did Tilenius recruit Bedier, PayPal alleges, but Bedier went on to solicit others among his former colleagues to jump ship to Google.
Meanwhile, PayPal also claims that while it had been negotiating with Google between 2008 and 2011 over being the default payment method for Android Market purchases, Tilenius was also involved in secret recruitment talks with the search giant. “During that time, PayPal provided Google with an extensive education in mobile payments” the company insists. “Bedier was the senior PayPal executive accountable for leading negotiations with Google on Android during this period. At the very point when the companies were negotiating and finalizing the Android-PayPal deal, Bedier was interviewing for a job at Google – without informing PayPal of this conflicting position.”
PayPal also claims Bedier has boasted of a DropBox full of confidential company secrets that he is willing to hand over to Google, and will not allow his former employers to examine. The payments firm is demanding not only compensation and assurances that further secrets won’t be passed around, but royalties on Google’s new Wallet system based on the idea that it’s in-part using PayPal secrets.

Why Google Delays Opening Of New Android Honeycomb Coad

As we all know that android is an open source operating system so its source code are used free by the programmer to develop the new version. That is also true to the Android 3.0, Honeycomb, the first Google has created specifically thinking into tablets. Andy Rubin, the head of Android at Google, has ensured that this operating system is "an open source project, we have not changed their strategy." However, "to respect the timing of exit of tablets have made some concessions. We have not thought about what would be needed to do to make the system work on the phones. We will add resources and slow down our schedule beyond what is reasonable." Rubin ensures that publish the source code when possible. Currently, Xoom Motorla tablet is equipped with Honeycomb. The reason that Google would want to avoid market fragmentation resulting in the smartphone, the ability to make versions of its operating system it entails, for example, that some manufacturers specifications unique request for applications on Android which is detrimental dissemination and annoying to the developers that they must create more of an adaptation of his application on Android.
Coinciding with this information, news emerged on the draft just leaving Motorola's Android operating system and create your own. Motorola since 2009 working with Google for its smartphones and tablets. The AmB would be based on the need to differentiate from other competitors who also work with Android and not rely on a single supplier.
Oracle and a French company have raised lawsuits against Google for alleged patent infringement Android what worries manufacturers who use the consequences of an eventual ruling against the company's operating system. Other companies like HP or Blackberry, have opted to develop its own operating system for tablets of the brand.
However, they never break bridges. Blackberry, for example, has announced that its tablet Playbook will have a reader application that will run Android with simple adjustment operation. Once adapted, the developer must receive approval from the BlackBerry application store. With this move, the company wants to take advantage of the offer of 200,000 applications that currently work with Android.

Android User Dont Likes Paying For The Application They Like

Its a new story in the Apps Market war: A new study that says Google’s Android Apps Market is stuffed full of free apps, but has very few people will pay for.
There are 72,000 paid apps in Google’s store, compared to Apple’s 211,000. But more important is the number of apps the stores are actually selling, and that’s where analytics firm Distimo weighs in. It says that when it comes to big hits, Google’s store is much further behind.
The most telling data point: Distimo says only two paid apps have been downloaded more than 500,000 times worldwide since Google’s market opened in early 2009. But it says six paid apps in Apple iPhone’s app store did similar volume in March and April–in the U.S. alone.
As Fortune.com’s Philip Elmer-DeWitt notes, this report is from the same people who riled Apple fans last month with a study that said Android was set to catch Apple in the sheer number of apps available. So perhaps next month they’ll come out with a study that makes Android boosters happy again.
But Distimo’s newest report does seem to sync up with comments we’ve heard from developers in the past: They’re interested in distributing their stuff via Android, but they’re not sure they’ll be able to sell it there.
Here’s the way MLB.com chief Bob Bowman put it in an April interview: “The Android user typically is less likely to buy, and therefore the ROI on developing for Android is different than it is for Apple….The iPhone and iPad user is interested in buying content-–that’s one of the reasons they bought the device. The Android buyer is different.”

Android Phone Next Leval:: Use It As Remote Control Of Your Home

Its quite normal to think that Google want their O/S(android) to be used much more than any other operating system. So for that they will always try to have something that is not in others. So at a conference of developers in San Francisco this week, the company showed off a future where someone could use an Android phone to turn on and off the lights, the dishwasher, a lamp or a sprinkler system — or anything else they want to. Means to have a total control of your home through a android phone.
The technology, which Google calls Android@Home, would be built into appliances or light bulbs so they could wirelessly communicate with Android devices, similar to the way a Bluetooth headset communicates with a cellphone.
This vision of an Android-powered home is still futuristic, and one that other companies have tried without getting very far. But this year, a company called LightingScience will release LED light bulbs that communicate with Android devices so if you are feeling particularly lazy, you can turn off the lights without getting out of bed.
“Everything should be Android-ified,” said Andy Rubin, head of Android, during a conversation with reporters. “We should just take it to new levels. It’s no longer something that people will go to the store to buy and then bring to their home or bring to their office. It’s something that will actually bridge those things.”
Google also introduced the Open Accessory toolkit, which may help hobbyist developers who don’t make washing machines or light bulbs make other things that work with Android. The kit has tools for developers to build hardware accessories — like headsets, game controllers or exercise gadgets — that work with Android devices.
This has already been possible, but there has not been a simple, standard way for hardware and software developers to make their devices work together.“This is a standard way for Android applications to talk to accessories,” said Hiroshi Lockheimer, director of engineering for Android, in an interview.
Google showed an Android device plugged into an exercise bike, and said the tools could be used for as-yet-unimaginable other things, like building robots.
Developers were excited; of the dozens of conference sessions for developers, the session about the Open Accessory toolkit had a line down the hall and around the corner and Google had to turn people away because the room wasn’t big enough.
As Mr. Rubin put it during a news conference: “You let these Androids out of their cage, you give them autonomy, they have feet and stuff, and you have no idea where they go. This is the great thing about open source.”

Google's Android is the king:::: Sales of Android Devices 6 Times more than last year...

It’s really no surprise when we see the numbers of the latest Android sales and market share. The Android platform has made itself the King of the mobile OS market in a few short years. Even coming a tad bit late to the game behind Apple’s iOS platform, Android has shown that it has what it takes to stay in the game and then overtake the position as the number one mobile OS.
Gartner is reporting that Android has trumped first quarter iPhone sales in the first quarter of 2011 with over 36.3 million devices sold. That is over six times the amount of Android devices that were sold during the first quarter of last year. Also, Android has almost quadrupled its share of the mobile OS market since last year from 9.6 percent to a whopping 36 percent of mobile devices. It’s sort of hard to believe that Android has grown to such a behemoth that it is.

Something also of note is how Android has surpassed iOS’s ad revenue in the Millennial Media Network coming in at 53% of all ad impressions where as iOS was at 16%.
It’s always fun to throw around numbers and talk about how Android is dominating the market and the like, but really what does it mean for all of us consumers? To be honest, it’s really a great time to be a smartphone consumer because when companies like Apple are threatened by Android dominance in the mobile space, they tend to release even better products which in turn pushes other manufacturers to release better Android products. It’s a cycle of healthy competition that produces better and better gear for us to play with.
On another note, the overall Android dominance could push Google into the front of the mobile OS race so far that they start to drag their feet on adding extra features and giving users timely updates. I have a good feeling though that a company of engineers may not fall into the trap of “lazy dominance” as their mobile OS becomes larger and larger in the space.
The only thing that truly disturbs the tech fanboy is that we only have two true mobile OS players right now as other companies (RIM, Microsoft, HP/Palm, and Nokia) are still trying to figure out what they need to do.

Insecure Android::: China Topped The World In Android Infections....

Your App Factoid of the week: 2.53 million Android smartphone users were infected with mobile viruses in Q1 this year, the majority of them in China. That’s according to NetQin Mobile, a Beijing-based SaaS provider offering mobile security solutions.
China accounted for 64% of infected Android phones worldwide in Q1, says a new NetQin study released this week. The second biggest market for Android viruses – the US – comprised less than 8% of the total. (India, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Malaysia also made the top ten list of countries in the study, though each took up between 2% and 3% of the total.)
NetQin said China dominated the results in part due to lack of awareness of mobile security issues, but also because of the easy availability of "white box" phones that aren’t tied to a cellco:
"White box" phones often run outdated versions of mobile software and are not provided with security support from legal carriers. The lack of mobile security awareness further adds fuel to the flames, as users often ignore protective measures when engaged in mobile activities, such as using mobile payment channels, web browsing or clicking on URLs from unknown sources, thus allowing more mobile viruses and malware to intrude their mobile devices.
Almost half of infected phones were running Froyo (Android OS V2.2), with another 34% running Eclair (Android OS V2.1). Malicious fee deduction and privacy theft comprised the bulk of the threats reported (45% and 30%, respectively).
Interestingly, NetQin also says that the main source of attacks was Android Market, which accounted for nearly 60% of threats.
Naturally, NetQin’s answer is to all this is cloud computing (did we mention they’re in the SaaS business?), so you can take that with as many grains of salt as you like.
On the other hand, the cloud will certainly have a role to play in mobile security, at least for enterprises nervous about employee smartphones accessing the corporate LAN, or operators hoping to offer hosted mobile security services like remote back-up, locking, tracking and wiping.

Google Unveils Mobile Wallet:: Now Paying Is Easy

Google has taken the wraps off its long-awaited mobile wallet service, and named its first partners in the venture. The company has teamed with wireless operator Sprint, financial services firm Citi, payment company MasterCard and transaction company First Data for live trials of Google Wallet.
Google said the NFC payment service for Android will be released first on the Nexus S 4G from Sprint.
It will initially support Citi MasterCards supporting MasterCard's PayPass contactless payment system, as well as a Google Prepaid Card that can be funded with most credit or debit cards.
Field tests are set to begin in the northern hemisphere's summer in New York and San Francisco, where Google said many retailers, vending machines and taxis already support PayPass.
The company will also work with companies including VeriFone, Hypercom, Ingenico and VIVOTech to develop a new point of sale system, SingleTap. Google named 17 retailers participating in the SingleTap program.
Google has also been testing promotions ranging from discounts on items discovered through its search adds, to coupons received when entering a store.
But the company is facing legal hurdles before it even launches the service. PayPal has filed a lawsuit accusing Google of misappropriating its trade secrets.
PayPal alleges that Osama Bedier - a former PayPal executive - stole confidential information about the payment company's mobile payment business when leaving to work at Google, Bloomberg reported.
The suit states that Bedier is now leading Google's point of sale efforts, and claims that Bedier and Google also disclosed PayPal trade secrets to major retailers.
In other Google mobile news, the company earlier this week revealed that the company now gets 2.7 billion ad requests through its AdMob mobile advertising network per day.

These leaked details are in some conflict with earlier released specs, but nothing was confirmed at that time, we are putting our money on today’s leak.
According to the listing,
Lenovo IdeaPad K1
  • 1GHz nVIDIA Tegra 2 Processor
  • 10.1 inch display
  • 1GB DDR2 RAM
  • 32 GB Internal Storage
  • Android 3.0

It will come with pre-loaded apps like Kindle, Angry Birds, and Lenovo Social Touch. We are hoping now Lenovo announces the tablet soon, may be at the upcoming Computex trade fair.

Windows Phone not selling? Who cares – Android makes more money for Microsoft....

According to a report released by Citi Analyst Walter Pritchard, Microsoft is getting USD 5 for every HTC Android device sold in the market. This money is coming from the Patent Settlement made between the two parties Microsoft and HTC under which Microsoft will get royalty payments on HTC phones running Android. Microsoft, which holds a wide range of software patents, did not say exactly what technology in the phones the agreement concerns.
The deal comes as smartphones using Google’s new operating system — which Google allows phone makers to use for free — gain in popularity. Microsoft charges handset makers like HTC and others to use its Windows phone software.
The smartphone market is riven with legal disputes as software companies and handset makers wrangle over who deserves compensation for technology behind new devices which go well beyond traditional mobile phones.
A simple math reveals that how this USD 5 is generating more money for Microsoft than all their Windows Phone sales. HTC is shipped around 30 million Android phone, which means USD 150 million for Microsoft, on the other hand Microsoft get USD 15 for the WP license from device sales and only 2 million were sold giving the company USD 30 in revenue.
150 million from Android and just 30 million from Windows Phone, that’s the reason why Microsoft is running around suing everyone.

Hounds For Android:::: Free Voice Search Apps

SoundHound Inc, makers of the SoundHound, have just unleashed the Hound; a new, stripped down of its song-identifying app.
Hound operates on a Shazam-like basis, only instead of searching for a song by placing the phone next to a speaker all searches are generated by voice commands. You simply tap the button, speak the name of the song or artist (or both) and the Hound will have a go at searching for your track.
While not ideal for finding out what’s playing on the radio (a la Shazam) it is a good way of searching for a specific song that you want to buy on the go.
Hound also it links up nicely with the Amazon MP3 and YouTube apps. So if you’ve just watched that episode of Glee, you can fire up Hound and simply say “The Chain by Fleetwood Mac”, and there’ll be little Amazon and YouTube links to click on at the bottom of the screen.
In  a sense, it’s basically a tool that allows you to voice search for MP3s on Amazon and videos on YouTube. But one that works quickly and looks good. Plus it’s free so if you just like the idea of having voice search for your musical needs, then the Hound is for you.
The full version of SoundHound is a little more advanced and comes in free (ad-supported) and paid (no ads) editions (SoundHound Infinity).
As well as offering the voice activated search, SoundHound allows you to a hum, whistle or sing a tune into your phone’s mic and it’ll do the best to find the track for you. It’s effectiveness depends on your ability to whislte/how tone defa your singing is, but it’s pretty genius and works most of the time.
You can also search for songs with SoundHound by holding in up to a speaker in the manner of Shazam and (whisper it) Sony Ericsson’s Track ID.
While SoundHound is available for both iPhones and Android devices, Hound is currently and Android-only deal.
